GR®52 - Traversée du Mercantour

Description

The GR®52 links Entraunes to Menton through the Mercantour National Park. The path is well waymarked but demanding — varied terrain between high-altitude scree, forests and Mediterranean coastal sections towards the end. Refuges are well distributed but must be booked ahead in summer. Mobile coverage is absent on the higher sections. Bivouac allowed 7pm–9am, more than 1h from access points, 1 night max. Rock engravings zone: prohibited except at the Merveilles and Fontanalba refuge areas. Fires prohibited.
