GR®54 - Tour de l'Oisans et des Ecrins

Description

The GR®54 loops around the Oisans and Écrins massif from Bourg-d'Oisans. It is known as one of the most difficult GR routes in France: high mountain terrain, demanding passes one after another, and slippery schist. Snow often lingers early in the season and governs whether some passes can be crossed. Refuges are well spread along the route. The guide covers the whole loop, with the refuges and resupply points. Mobile signal is absent over most of the route, so the guide works offline. Bivouac: in the Écrins National Park, permitted from 7pm to 9am, more than one hour's walk from road access points and from the boundaries of the park's core zone, with a small tent only. Dogs, fires, plant picking, drones and mountain bikes are prohibited; gas stoves are permitted.
