GR®56 - Tour de l'Ubaye

Description

A quiet mountain loop around the Ubaye valley, between the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and the Alpes-Maritimes. The terrain is high mountain, well waymarked but with demanding passages and long stretches far from anything. Accommodation and resupply are scarce, so wild camping is often needed, within the applicable regulations. The route runs through protected areas where camping, fires and dogs are restricted. The guide covers the whole route with accommodation, resupply points and mountain shelters. Works offline, essential where there is no signal. Bivouac: in the Mercantour National Park, permitted from 7pm to 9am, more than one hour's walk from the park boundaries or the last road access. Fires (including smoking), dogs and drones are prohibited.
