The Via Podiensis, also called Voie du Puy or GR®65, connects Le Puy-en-Velay to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port for nearly 750 kilometers. It is one of the four French paths to Compostela, and the most frequented: you will meet pilgrims of all nationalities, experienced walkers as well as beginners. Little frequented, with long sections without supplies or accommodation, the bivouac is often necessary (regulated). The trail is well signposted, very well connected in accommodation, and accessible to those who are properly prepared. Works in airplane mode to save your battery—essential on long steps away from outlets. Regional Park of Aubrac: Bivouac allowed for 1 night, between 7 p.m. and 8 a.m. campfires are prohibited within 200m of a wood and during summer periods of drought Regional Park of the Causses du Quercy: Bivouac allowed. Restriction on fires, especially in dry periods. Parc Régional des Landes de Gascogne: Bivouacking is not allowed outside the designated areas due to the fragility of the environment and, moreover, due to the fire risk that is very present in the Landes de Gascogne. Parc Régional du Morvan: Bivouac authorized 19h-9h. There are no specific regulations, except to comply with the regulations related to the urban planning code. Pyrenees National Park Bivouac authorized more than an hour’s walk from any motorized access between 7 p.m. and 9 a.m. Fire is prohibited. The use of autonomous portable stoves is possible under the conditions provided for by the regulations of the National Park.
