GR®51 et GR®98 - Balcons de la Méditerranée

Description

The GR®51, known as the Balcons de la Méditerranée, links Menton to Marseille through the Alpes-Maritimes, Var and Bouches-du-Rhône. The path alternates between hilltop villages, wooded massifs and coastal stretches, it does not follow the shoreline continuously. From Marseille, the GR®98 extends the route through the Calanques National Park to Cassis : a demanding section with technical passages on limestone terrain. Bivouacking is strictly prohibited in the Calanques National Park and accommodation is scarce: logistics require careful planning. Works in aeroplane mode to save battery. Calanques National Park: Strict prohibitions valid year-round Bivouac and camping are prohibited in all forms. Fires, smoking and the use of gas stoves are prohibited. From June 1 to September 30: access to the entire park is prohibited in case of red fire alert : always check before you go!
