Arrival
Champoluc
A fully waymarked high route that crosses the southern side of the Aosta Valley, beneath the great border peaks. It is the more demanding of the region's two high routes: the line avoids glacier terrain but strings together deep descents to the valley floor followed by long climbs to the next pass, making it a physically committing high-mountain route. A few rocky sections are fitted with metal staples and cables on the way down. The route relies on huts, mountain bivouacs and valley accommodation, and it drops down to a village at almost every stage where you can resupply or reach a bus line. The guide covers the whole route with huts, bivouacs and resupply points. Mobile coverage is absent across much of the route; the guide works offline.
