Berliner Höhenweg

Description

A demanding high alpine route linking the Deutscher Alpenverein huts on a near loop through the Zillertal Alps. The terrain is true high mountain: scree slopes, glacier-polished slabs, cable-secured passages and a short ladder between two huts. It is meant for surefooted hikers who are comfortable with secured exposure and already used to hut-to-hut trekking. The huts are often full in summer and must be booked several months ahead, directly with the wardens. The guide covers the whole route with the alpine club huts and the secured passages. Mobile coverage is absent over much of the route, so the guide works offline.
