Grand Tour de la Tarantaise

Description

A large high-altitude loop that circles the whole Tarentaise valley, linking one pass after another and crossing several high mountain ranges. The route is waymarked but demanding through its sheer length and its run of consecutive mountain days, so it suits trained hikers who can stay self-sufficient over several weeks. Progress is mostly from refuge to refuge, with guesthouses and hotels in the larger resorts along the way. Resupply is found in the villages and resorts but stays spread out across the long high sections. The guide covers the entire route with the refuges, the accommodation and the resupply points. Mobile coverage is absent over much of the route; the guide works offline.
