Tour des Dents du Midi

Description

A waymarked mountain circuit that loops right around the massif, on alpine paths that climb high and string together one pass after another. It is the oldest of the Valais walking tours: the going stays demanding, with big days of ascent and a few exposed sections that call for sure footing. Overnights rely on a chain of huts, refuges and alpine inns spread along the loop, usually needing a booking and closed outside the season. Resupply is limited along the way: alpine refreshment stops help out, but a single village sits on the route, so you carry enough to last between stages. The guide covers the whole loop with the huts, refuges, refreshment stops and resupply points. There is no mobile signal on much of the route, so the guide works offline.
