Tour des Aiguilles d'Arves

Description

A waymarked mountain circuit that loops right around the Aiguilles d'Arves massif, between Savoie and the Hautes-Alpes, through a run of high passes and long days on high-mountain terrain. It carries no real technical difficulty beyond a few steep slopes on stabilised paths and some stream crossings, but it demands good fitness and a habit of big elevation days. The route leans on a string of staffed and unstaffed altitude refuges and chalets, including the Refuge des Aiguilles d'Arves and the Refuge du Goleon, which fill up in high season. Resupply happens in the villages along the way and is sparse on the higher sections, where you need to carry your own supplies. The guide covers the whole loop with its refuges, stage chalets and resupply points. Works offline, essential where there is no signal.
