Description

A high-mountain circuit linking the staffed refuges of the Aigüestortes National Park, in Catalonia. It strings together passes above the high-altitude lakes and can be walked in either direction, starting from whichever refuge you choose. The route is done hut to hut, with no bivouac allowed inside the park, which is its defining logistical trait: each stage ends at a staffed refuge for food and lodging. The refuges fill up in summer and often have to be booked well in advance. The guide covers the entire loop with its refuges and resupply points. There is no mobile signal across much of the route, and the guide works offline.
