Departure
Saint-Nizier-du-Moucherotte
Arrival
Fontaine-de-Vaucluse
A waymarked long-distance crossing that shifts from the northern Alps toward an already Mediterranean landscape. Its central section crosses the Hauts-Plateaux du Vercors, the only true wilderness of its kind in France, with no water or services along a long stretch and only basic shelter huts. The southern descent leads onto drier terrain with Mediterranean vegetation. Accommodation thins out on the plateau and there is no resupply there, while both return in the southern villages. The guide covers the whole route with accommodation, shelter huts and resupply points. Mobile coverage is absent over much of the route; the guide works offline.
