Tour du Beaufortain

Description

A mountain loop around the Beaufortain massif, in the Savoie Alps. The route strings together a series of refuges and alpine dairy chalets, in a massif of summer pastures and dairy farming where Beaufort cheese is made. It is waymarked and lends itself to splitting the stages freely according to where the refuges sit. The tour comes in many variants, which let you lengthen, shorten or bypass certain sections. The guide covers the full loop with the refuges, alpine chalets and resupply points. Mobile coverage is absent over much of the route, so the guide works offline.
