Departure
Chamonix
Arrival
Zermatt
A committed high-mountain traverse that follows a high line from one great massif to the next, crossing a succession of high passes. The terrain is sustained, with long days, exposed sections and heavy ascent on every stage; it suits fit walkers who are at ease in the mountains. The route is walked hut to hut and village to village, with these places filling up in summer and booking out well ahead. Resupply is concentrated on the valley floors and thins out on the higher sections. The guide covers the whole route with the huts, valley accommodation and resupply points. Mobile coverage is absent over much of the route; the guide works offline.
